Failure is *always* an option!

A friend of mine was recently telling me about the significant problems in their marriage. I told this person that they didn't need to stay in an abusive situation, and that they should consider throwing in the towel. Their response to me was, "You don't understand, failure is not an option." I pointed out that I used to feel that way too....until my ex
decided she didn't want to be married to me.
For the record, failure is always an option in a relationship. No matter how well you do your part at keeping a marriage together, it won't last if the other person decides they no longer want to be with you. The best you can do is to make sure that any failure is not due to a lack of effort on your part, then let the chips fall where they may.
